27 Out Aquaculture Europe 2017 recap
“Cooperation for growth”, the motto of Aquaculture Europe 2017, Dubrovnik, Croatia. And hardly are there any phrases that can describe the need for cooperation in the aquaculture sector.
The AE2017 was the first Aquaculture Europe to achieve such high participation. Over 1700 members registered for the event, from 62 countries. 80 companies participated in the exhibition area and more than 360 posters were submitted.
Our participation in the event was very productive and gave us a great opportunity to:
- Engage with the global aquaculture community
- Present some of the projects that the aquaManager team is involved with
- Listen to the challenges the community is facing
- Catch up with our current customers
- Discuss how Information Technology can help overcome business barriers
The aquaManager team has been working on transforming the sector, from experienced based to knowledge based, for many years. The projects that were presented in the conference by Konstantinos Bovolis and Nikos Thiakoulis support this goal: promoting cooperation, knowledge sharing (between companies as well as between producers and scientists) and focusing beyond the farm, in order to assist the growth of aquaculture in a sustainable way.
The discussions with the stakeholders showed a growing appetite for information technology to support efficient production management, collaboration, compliance to standards and certifications. ICT will be a key enabler for innovation in aquaculture and innovation is the path to business success.
